A backyard mini golf party gives guests something they can enjoy together, whether they want to keep score or simply try the next obstacle. It also leaves room for the rest of the celebration: catching up, grabbing a snack and cheering on the birthday kid.
Before you book, work out three things: where the course will go, how your guests will take turns and who will keep an eye on play. Here’s a practical way to plan your party at home.

Start with the space you can actually use
For Rad Entertainment’s nine-hole course, plan around a flat, dry, level 25-by-25-foot area. Grass or pavement can work. If your yard is an unusual shape, send measurements and photos before booking so we can discuss the layout.
Measure the clear playing area after allowing for food tables, chairs and the route guests will use to reach the house. A yard can look spacious until the party furniture arrives. Keep the course away from the main path to the bathroom, food and entrance.
Check delivery access, too. Our setup guidelines call for a five-foot-wide path and parking within 50 feet of the playing area. Let us know about a longer carry, steps or a narrow gate in advance.
Know what comes with your rental
Our portable nine-hole LED mini golf course comes with putters in child and adult sizes, golf balls, scorecards and pencils. We deliver and set it up, then return for breakdown and pickup.
Mini golf is normally a drop-off rental. On-site hosting is available for an additional charge. For a children’s party, choose an adult who can supervise younger players and help with turns, or ask us about adding a host.

Choose a way to play that suits your guests
You don’t need a serious tournament to make the course fun. Pick one format and explain it before the first group starts.
Casual rounds
Let guests play in small groups and skip the scorecards if they prefer. This works well when people arrive at different times.
Family teams
Pair a child with an adult and let them alternate shots. Younger players can take part without having to complete every hole alone.
Friendly competition
Keep individual scores for guests who want a challenge. Agree on a maximum number of strokes per hole so one tricky obstacle doesn’t hold up the next group.
Keep waiting players to the side of the person putting. Remind everyone to use gentle putting strokes and carry clubs low between holes.
Give the party a simple rhythm
Build your schedule around the moments when everyone needs to come together. A relaxed birthday party might follow this sequence:
- Arrival: Greet guests, hand out putters and explain how to move through the course.
- First round: Send guests out in small groups rather than lining everyone up behind one player.
- Food and cake: Pause for the birthday celebration and give everyone a chance to sit down.
- More play: Invite guests back for another round, a family-team game or a friendly rematch.
Let guests know when the final round will begin so they can finish before the agreed pickup time. If you’re planning an evening party, the course includes LED lighting, but you should also arrange lighting for walkways, tables and entrances.
Plan the rental budget
Our standard nine-hole mini golf rental is $899 for up to seven hours. Ask for a quote for an 18-hole setup or added on-site hosting. There is no distance fee for any of our services within 30 miles of our warehouse. Locations more than 30 miles away have a small additional charge. Fill out our booking form to see the exact amount for your event.
Think about the length of your celebration before choosing your delivery and pickup window. You can have the course available while guests arrive, take a break for cake and return for another round without making golf the only activity on the schedule.
A quick checklist before you book
- Measure the clear course area and the narrowest point on the delivery route.
- Choose a parking or unloading spot and flag any access concerns.
- Count the likely players and share the age range with us.
- Decide who will supervise younger children and manage turns.
- Plan seating, drinking water and shade away from the course.
- Discuss a weather backup before the event. If you’re using a shared venue, confirm its rental and delivery rules directly with the venue.
